People do not perceive every odor at exactly the same intensity. Genetics, previous scent exposure, temporary congestion, sensory sensitivity, and simple familiarity with a fragrance can all affect what someone notices.
That means two people can stand in the same room and have very different reactions to the same scent. One might immediately notice a floral note while another focuses on vanilla or woods. Neither person is necessarily wrong. Fragrance is a chemical experience interpreted by a human sensory system, so individual perception is part of the experience. When choosing home fragrance for a shared space, personal preference matters just as much as the product description.
