Hang a car freshie only in a location allowed by the product's directions where it cannot obstruct your view, interfere with driving, or touch surfaces it could damage. There is no single hanging point that is suitable for every vehicle and every freshie.
The freshie needs room around it, including when it swings during a turn or when the vehicle stops. Check that it cannot reach screens, trim, upholstery, controls, or other surfaces. Consider the full length of the cord and decoration, not just the scented portion.
Keep it clear of airbag deployment areas and any controls you need to reach. Do not choose a location simply because the scent feels stronger there. A good fragrance position must also work for the vehicle.
A hanging freshie and a vent-mounted freshener may have different designs and instructions. Do not turn one into the other by improvising a mount. A rearview mirror is not automatically an appropriate choice: obstruction rules vary, so check the rules that apply where you drive.
Fragrance materials can affect some interior finishes, and heat may change how a freshie behaves. Keep it suspended as directed rather than resting it on the dashboard or laying it in a cup holder.
Recheck the placement if the cord stretches, the decoration changes shape, or you move it to another vehicle. If you cannot find a position that meets the product and vehicle requirements, use a different freshener format with an appropriate mount.
